About

Hello and welcome! My name is Emily and I’m the owner, designer, and maker at Goldfinch Textile Studio.

I am focused on designing zero and low-waste sewing patterns and finding creative ways to utilize reclaimed and upcycled materials. I enjoy exploring the various ways unwanted materials can be given new life and providing different avenues for people to engage and think about slow fashion.

My zero and low-waste sewing patterns are designed to maximize the use of the required fabric resulting in a garment that is both modern and timeless. They are designed for flexibility and adaptability; I want you to be able to make the garment directly from the pattern but to also see the pattern as a springboard for you to create something that is uniquely your own.

One goal of my efforts is to expand the discussion on using fabric waste, not only from your own sewing but also excess fabric from sustainable clothing brands. I hope my efforts help you to see your cutoffs as a bonus instead of waste or burden, while also seeing how patterns can be designed differently to create less waste.

Thank you for joining me!
